Characterizing colloids - Parameters measurable by Malvern

Malvern provides a range of instrumentation capable of measuring a wide range of parameters that are important in the study of colloids in both concentrated and dilute concentrations.

Zetasizer Nano

The Zetasizer Nano series is the ideal system for the characterisation of colloidal systems. It can measure a combination of three of the most important parameters for colloidal characterisation, particle size, zeta potential and molecular weight. A combination of technologies within the instrument allows for non-invasive measurements of particles in their native environment. The Zetasizer Nano series enables measurements at high concentration with minimal or no dilution of the sample required. This is of obvious benefit if there are concerns about changes in sample morphology upon dilution eg break up of aggregates.

Bohlin rheometers

The rheological characterisation of a colloidal system can be made using the Bohlin line of controlled strain and stress rheometers.
