The Mastersizer 2000 was designed as an integrated system with specially coded cell cassettes to enable the software to automatically identify the sample dispersion unit currently in use and to configure the software correctly.
Automated wet sample dispersion units such as the Hydro S and the Hydro G, can be directly controlled by the software and the control settings are automatically read-back and recorded by the software.
In some installations users may wish to use non-Mastersizer 2000 wet sample dispersion units to perform their measurements.
The Gateway Cell has been designed to meet this requirement. It is a specially coded cell which is recognized by the software as "belonging" to a sample dispersion unit outside its control. The built-in SOP routines in the software will be simply confined to reminding users of any special operational requirements but no control will be provided.
.
Typical Applications
The use of prototype dispersion units that would not be recognized by the Mastersizer 2000 or pre-existing sample dispersion units for which standard operating procedures may have been established. It can also be used with external recirculators or reaction vessels provided these deliver samples within the right concentration band and at normal ambient temperatures.
Solvent Compatibility
The circulation path consists of the following materials : Viton ® fluorastomer (seals), glass, and 316 stainless steel.
