Melt tension apparatus with automatic spooling

This version of the Rosand melt tension or ‘haul off’ apparatus incorporates an automated spooling device for neat collection and storage of the extrudate. The device is compatible with the Rosand RH7 and RH10 capillary rheometers and can be operated directly from the Rosand Flowmaster™ software.

The automatic spooling feature avoids any tangling which might occur at high take up rates on a conventional ‘pinch’ roller system. Interchangeable spools also allow easy management of extruded samples for other measurements such as tensile testing. Moving parts are shielded by a transparent guard for maximum operator safety.

Another advantage of the design is its exceptionally wide operating range and versatility. Melt take up speeds can be set at up to 2000 metres per minute with a dynamic range in speed of 100,000:1. Melt tension is measurable down to 0.005 grams.
