SyNIRgi - NIR Chemical Imaging System

The SyNIRgi NIR-CI (Near Infrared Chemical Imaging) is a rapid, robust and flexible Chemical Imaging system with a wide sampling dynamic range and depth of field that allows the analysis of curved tablets, whole granules and anything in between.
The SyNIRgi NIR-CI delivers spatial and chemical information that, coupled with ISys data analysis software, provides answers to the questions ‘what’, ‘how much’, and ‘where’ turning Images to Answers.

The SyNIRgi does not contain any moving parts and does not require specialized laboratory benching. The solid state filters allow for specific wavelength images to be acquired removing the requirement to scan a wavelength range. The detector utilizes electronic cooling and does not require liquid nitrogen.

Data acquisition with the SyNIRgi is rapid, a full wavelength scan takes around 2 minutes, however the settings can be optimized for specific samples and this time can be significantly reduced.

The SyNIRgi has a very flexible set-up which can permit the analysis of a wide range of samples from very small granules to washing powder tablets without preparation.

The different objectives just screw in and out and it takes less than 10 minutes to change and optimize the system from one field of view to another so it is easy to image the same samples at multiple magnifications to determine which one suits the application best.

The SyNIRgi allow imaging of curved and uneven surfaces and hence sample preparation would not be required. Polarizers can also be used to remove specular glare from uneven or shiny surfaces. This is important if the interest is in a sample coating or there are limited samples which cannot be altered by sample preparation as further analysis is required.

Samples are truly analyzed non-destructively enabling traditional analytical techniques, such as dissolution, to be performed on the same sample

The variable magnifications allow for direct comparison of multiple samples in the same field of view without increasing the acquisition time. Other imaging systems would require separate images for each sample and hence the acquisition time would be longer. This is useful for high throughput or counterfeit detection where direct comparison would quickly show any differences between the samples.

ISys Chemical Image data processing software is designed specifically for processing the large data sets produced by near infrared chemical imaging. It contains a variety of powerful analysis and visualization tools for processing chemical images and can provide qualitative images and quantitative predictions using well established chemometric algorithms.
