The Viscotek DSV Autosampler is specifically designed to meet the needs of dilute solution viscosity measurement.

The DSV Autosampler mates seamlessly with the Viscotek Y501 Viscometer to provide automated sample delivery, which frees the operator from manual sample introduction and allows unattended processing of a single samples or a whole sample batch.

Automation of the sample delivery process also increases sample throughput, efficiency and productivity while enhancing operator safety.

The DSV Autosampler is an X-Y-Z autosampler with a stationary rack design that provides superior accuracy and reproducibility. It is controlled by the Viscotek ARV software, which also controls data acquisition and processing from the Relative Viscometer.

The DSV autosampler is capable of handling 40 or 20 ml vials and when mated with the Viscotek Semi-Automated Sample Preparation (SASP) provides significant automation of both the sample preparation and delivery tasks.

Other automation options are:

Semi-Automated Sample Preparation (SASP) SASP - Semi-Automated Sample Preparation for the Viscotek Dilute Solution Viscometer

The Semi-Automated Sample Preparation (SASP) option assists operators in the preparation process by controlling the weighing and dispensing operations for DSV measurements.

Featured presentations and application notes:

Application communication: Intrinsic viscosity of cellulose in cuprammonium hydroxide The Solomon-Gatesman function is showed to give intrinsic viscosity without extrapolation to zero concentration required by the Kraemer and Huggins methods. Viscosity of cellulose is measured using an automated dilute solution viscometer and compared favorably to glass capillary results.

Application communication: Intrinsic viscosity of cellulose in cupriethylenediamine Intrinsic viscosity of cellulose in Cupriethylenediamine is compared to cellulose in Cuprammonium Hydroxide. After careful dilution, the results were in good agreement.

Application communication: Dilute solution viscosity of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) Viscosity of PET in OCP (Orthochlorophenol) and in 60% phenol / 40% TCE (Trichloroethanol) are measured every 5.5 minute automatically using the DSV. Excellent results are reported for both solvents.
