Malvern supplies a range of venturis for different applications. The two main types are :
Right-angle venturi
The standard venturi, which provides a good amount of motive power, suitable for most applications.
Coaxial venturi
A less efficient venturi (only a fraction of the efficiency of the right-angle venturi) which is very useful for easily-dispersed, fragile products
The figure below shows a pressure-size titration for a powder coating and the wet-dry overplot which indicates the correct pressure for dry measurements.

It can be seen that although particle size drifts down slightly with increasing pressure, dispersion equivalent to that observed in a wet sample is achieved at a low pressure, 0.2 bar. This is indicative of the low energy required to fully disperse a powder coating sample and explains why coaxial venturi can be used successfully for this application.
