Case study: Optimizing a minerals mill

Many plants have to re-specify process parameters for new product specifications.

For example, a minerals manufacturer in Canada receives three or four requests each year to change the product (ie new D10, D50, D90). This means changing not only classifier speeds, but also parameters such as internal mill settings, air flows and feed rates. Such re-specification would normally take at least a week using off-line particle sizing, but with real-time sizing, has been reduced to just 4 hours.
