Sampling for continuous cement analysis

System overview

Continuous representative sample extraction is essential for reliable on-line particle size analysis. Malvern recommend robust industry-specific solutions for the Insitec - cement process interface, depending on the flow rate of the process stream. At higher flow rates, typically those in excess of 50 tons per hour, both primary and secondary sampling will be required but at lower flows secondary sampling alone will be sufficient. Tried and tested technology suitable for 24/7 operation in the cement manufacturing environment is available in both cases.

  • Primary sampling
A screw auger is installed in the process stream. Sample is extracted continuously (according to ISO 8656-1) and is delivered into a second smaller chute, the bottom of which is the return leg into the process stream. Representativity is ensured by using a variable screw that enables increased sampling from the edges of the process stream.
  • Secondary sampling
