Insitec L

The slurry process stream particle size analyzer.

Solid or liquid particulates suspended in liquid process stream

Automatic on-line continuous, or at-line manual

  Mobile installation

Real-time particle size analyzer based on laser diffraction 0.1 to 1000µm

Designed for real-time measurement of solid and liquid particulates in dilute and concentrated liquid streams e.g. pharmaceuticals and minerals. The Insitec L is manufactured to GAMP4 standards. The hardware is designed to be compatible with CIP and SIP requirements.
The Insitec L particle size analyzer uses a modular system for connection to many different process streams.
Laser Diffraction
The particle size analysis is performed using industry standard laser diffraction.

Process Interface
The Insitec uses a modular system for connection to many different process streams.

Automation & control
The automation of the analyzer system and connection to the plant control system is facilitated via Malvern Link, a flexible approach accepting custom user interfaces, and a variety of PLC communication protocols

Solutions
The analyzer system has been proven in a variety of different industrial applications, from cement to pharmaceuticals.

Summary

The configuration can be specified to suit particular applications, however the base system is configured as follows:

General

Intrinsic safety

None

Analyzer
  • IP66 rated optical sensor comprising solid state laser diode, multi-element detector, high speed parallel processor, process sample flow cell, communications interface and interconnecting cables (150m). Range of fixed optical arrangements available, allowing different size ranges to be measured
  • Flow cell suitable for inline or bypass eductor configurations, with range of path lengths for compatibility with process lines and particulate loading.
  • Triclamp assembly of optical components for simplified maintenance.
  • The flow cell is made of 316L stainless steel. Sample measurement zone and flow path are of seamless construction to comply with cGMP requirements. All seals are rated to IP66.
  • Process connection via tri-clamp fittings to BS4825
Installation

Static unit - Fit to pipe or frame close by to sampling points

Electronic enclosure
  • Lockable IP66 rated cabinet - housing:
  • Communication interface PCB - allows RS232 or RS422 connection to the PC.
  • Maximum cable length is 15m using RS232. The RS422 connection should be used for longer length requirements.
  • Diagnostic LED's at the Optical sensor
  • Voltage is auto sensed in range 100 to 240 volts
Cables
  • 10m of cable to connect between Optical Head and Interface box.
  • 150m cable reel for connection between interface box and PC.
