Insitec S software overview

Malvern's Insitec S is for real time, high-speed measurement of high concentration liquid droplets for the particle size characterization of sprays and aerosols.

Flexible User Interface.
The Insitec S result screen is divided into three data display regions, each of which can be configured by the user. These allow the display of light scattering information, particle size distributions and result summaries along with a time history showing the evolution of the spray. All display settings can be saved for later recall.

Time History Data Display.
The measurement data is automatically stored in time history format allowing the entire lifetime of the spray to be easily reviewed. Frame-by-frame inspection of the spray sequence is possible, permitting the complete playback of the spray event and also facilitating the understanding of short-term fluctuations in the spray particle size. The time history display can be configured to display of key result and measurement parameters across the entire lifetime of the spray. In the case of continuous spray measurements the time history is updated in real-time, allowing the user to easily monitor the spray evolution.

Statistical Analysis.
Time averaging can be easily achieved for different regions of the spray time history. Averages are produced simply by highlighting the region of the time history for which an average is required. The averaging process can then be carried out and the result saved to a separate file. These averages can then be compared using the software over-plot facility, allowing changes in the spray over time to be easily verified.

Data Export.
In common with all Malvern products, the data obtained during measurements can be exported to other data analysis packages. This includes export of the time history data, particle size distributions and scattering data.

Measurement Control.
All aspects of the measurement process can be easily configured using the Insitec S software and saved for future use. This includes all of the settings required for the capture of pulsed or short-lived spray events as well as those options associated with the measurement of continuous sprays. The user has access to key parameters defining the measurement duration, triggering, data grouping options and the noise rejection settings. This allows the system to be configured for the measurement of a variety of different spray systems.

21 CFR Part 11 Compliance.
The Insitec S software features have been extended to provide users in the pharmaceutical industry with the ability to achieve compliance with 21 CFR part 11.
