The Mastersizer 3000 laser diffraction particle size analyzer delivers rapid, accurate particle size distributions for both wet and dry dispersions with the minimum of effort. Measuring over the nanometer to millimeter particle size ranges, it packs exceptional performance into the smallest of footprints, bringing operator-independent measurements that every user can rely on.
The Mastersizer 3000 is the latest generation of the world’s most popular particle sizing instrument. Incorporating expert engineering and applications know-how into every stage of its design, it delivers:
The Mastersizer 3000 uses the technique of laser diffraction to measure the size of particles. It does this by measuring the intensity of light scattered as a laser beam passes through a dispersed particulate sample. This data is then analyzed to calculate the size of the particles that created the scattering pattern.
A typical system is made up of three main elements:
When you purchase a Malvern product we understand that this is just the first stage of a working relationship that will last for the lifetime of the instrument. Some customers just need to ask an occasional question or to download a software upgrade, whilst others require a comprehensive support contract with priority call out and fixed cost of ownership. Whatever your situation Malvern will provide the right support for you.

In some industries, for example, in early-stage pharmaceutical development, it is desirable to measure particle size from a small samples of dry powders. However measuring small quantities risks measuring a sample that is not representative of the bu...
In some industries, for example, in early-stage pharmaceutical development, it is desirable to measure particle size from as little as 5mg of dry material. In this application note, we demonstrate the capability of the Aero S dry dispersion unit and ...
Nanoparticles can be difficult to produce, and are often synthesized in small quantities and dispersed in expensive solvents. The Hydro SV is allows us to measure the particle size distribution samples dispersed in 6-7ml of dispersant, and is therefo...
