Malvern Invites

You are here:HomeECIS 2009

23rd Conference of the European Colloid and Interface Society, Antalya, Turkey 6-11 September 2009

Malvern Invites you to a pre-conference Short Course:

Self-assembly of Surfactants and Polymers: Fundamentals and Applications

5-6 September 2009 Course Tutor – Prof. Björn Lindman

Course Overview

  • Association of surfactants
  • Phase behaviour of concentrated surfactant systems
  • Mixed surfactant systems - vesicles
  • Microemulsions
  • Surface active polymers (block copolymers and graft polymers)
  • Surfactant-polymer systems - general aspects; associating polymers; phase behavior
  • Surfactant adsorption at solid surfaces - cleaning of hard surfaces
  • Adsorption in mixed polymer-surfactant systems

Apply your knowledge

Practical sessions involving hands-on rheology (Malvern Kinexus rheometer) and dynamic light scattering and zeta potential (Malvern Zetasizer Nano) measurements will allow you to apply course knowledge to real systems. Malvern Technical and Applications specialists will be available to guide you through key practical measurement aspects to allow robust and reliable data to be both generated and interpreted correctly
