Composites and engineered materials
Composite materials require performance of both the matrix material as well as the reinforcing materials. Malvern Instruments offers solutions to measure properties of both parts together with the final product. The multi-detector SEC/GPC allows measuring molecular mass, distribution and branching of the polymers or pre-polymers involved.
The range of capillary and rotational rheometers yield data on the viscoelastic properties of these starting materials as well as the final product under varying conditions of stress, strain and time. Monitoring curing processes in a rheometer provides information on the kinetics of the curing process.
Malvern Instruments’ Mastersizer and the Morphologi G3 allow measuring particle size and shape distributions e.g. of milled fibers or other fillers and reinforcing materials for complete characterization of your composite material.
