The Malvern Zetasizer series measures particle and molecule size from below a nanometer to several microns using dynamic light scattering, zeta potential and electrophoretic mobility using electrophoretic light scattering, and molecular weight using static light scattering. In addition the system can be connected to a GPC / SEC system to use as a chromatography detector. The system is available in a range of variants that allows you to select the best system for your application and budget, and the philosophy of the design is to ensure exceptional ease of use and give confidence in the results without compromising performance.
The Malvern systems have proved highly effective, allowing us to further demonstrate the stability and purity of our products and how this may be translated into improving liquid biopharmaceutical formulations.
While electron microscopy (EM) provides us with more detailed data, it takes a whole day to obtain the images. It would therefore be costly to use EM for routine sample testing. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) with the Zetasizer Nano is both non-destructive and fast.

From the perspective of the wide-ranging applications of an ‘open’ laboratory, particle sizing using systems from Malvern Instruments is very easy. The software is really easy to use, easy to understand, and doesn’t take long either to learn or teach.
Here at IU’s Nanocharacterization facility, the Malvern Zetasizer Nano is the ‘go to’ instrument for characterization of assembled product.

We very much value the customer service and training opportunities from Malvern. In particular, the rapid diagnosis of any issues through direct internet connection with the Malvern customer service team has prevented us from suffering production downtime.

We’ve always been really happy with Malvern and while we’ve tried other companies, the necessary expertise was not there.

The Zetasizer Nano is so easy to use. All my students can familiarise themselves with it very quickly. As a result, we are purchasing a second instrument to ensure we have enough capacity for our expanding research programme in this area.

The Zetasizer Nano enables us to walk up to the instrument and test our samples in a matter of minutes. In fact, it is such a useful, easy-to-use system that the protein chemists in my department have used it every day since I bought it and wouldn’t want to live without it now they have it!

We have been Malvern customers for many years and are very happy with the service. Whenever I have an application question or a technical issue, however complex, I simply call them. They respond very, very quickly and are always able to help.
Both the ease of use delivered by Malvern technology and the backup support mean that, at YKI, we do not look further than Malvern when seeking to purchase new particle sizing systems.
We have had several researchers become new NRC users because they want to access our Malvern Zetasizer Nano
the Nanotechnology Research Center (NRC) at the Georgia Institute of Technology
My students have always had great things to say about the Zetasizer Nano. They say it’s very easy to use. The software is very user-friendly and it can accommodate particles of various different sizes, so I have never had reason to evaluate another particle sizing instrument.
