A Zetasizer Nano ZS is demonstrated to make automated measurement of zeta potential as a function of pH for a starburst dendrimer, showing the existence of titratable amino groups at low pH. Dendrimers are densely branched, treelike, star-shaped macromolecules with potential for drug delivery, encapsulation, and gene delivery applications. The pH behavior of the effective charge of the polymer is of interest in the design for delivery complexes, and is shown here for a generation 6.5 amidoamin dendrimer with temrinal carboxylate groups. The isoelectric point was found to be at pH 5.8 suing 100mM NaOH and 100mM HCl as titrants.
